Welcome to the Carrington Primary School website. My name is Brett Speed and I am the proud Principal of the school. Our wonderful small school community prides itself on inclusive education, the learning opportunities we present to our students as well as our diligent teaching and support staff.
Our school can provide a smaller scale setting for your child to develop and thrive in, whilst having an abundance of hands on and digital resources school-wide. Our large school grounds include revamped playgrounds, two large basketball courts surrounded by landscaped gardens and a large oval for outdoor play. We have a range of shaded outdoor classroom spaces that allow us to connect with nature and deliver our daily lessons in a variety of settings.
Carrington Primary is a place where students engage in practical learning across all curriculum areas. Our well-resourced school allows us to incorporate 21st century learning into daily lessons using large screen TVs and iPads as well as engaging with coding practices through S.T.R.E.A.M. As an Apple school we have 1:1 devices that create a range of digital learning experiences.
A wide range of specialist classes and activities are offered including Physical Education, Art, Music/Performing Arts and S.T.R.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Art and Maths). The school also offers a variety of lunch-time clubs and supports including Cheer classes, Well-being sessions and a Garden club.
Our intervention programs provide students with additional assistance across literacy and numeracy. Classroom teachers utilise microphones to support students with language processing. These devices can be directly linked into hearing devices. A range of sensory support items are located in each classroom including swing chairs, flexible seating, calming tools and a range of sensory supports.
The school focuses on creating and fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment for all. We use a consistent social and emotional learning approach to regulate feelings, energy and sensory needs across the school.
We foster strong partnerships between the family and the school through continuous communication. All families and carers are encouraged to be active participants in their child’s learning.
Our school promotes and instils a set of values into our daily practice to ensure our students leave as well rounded life-long learners.
I extend a warm welcome to you and your family.
Regards,
Brett Speed
