Welcome to the Darrang Primary School website. My name is Brett Speed and I am the proud Principal of the school. Our wonderful school community prides itself on inclusive education, the learning opportunities we present to our students as well as our diligent teaching and support staff.
Our school provides a wide range of opportunities for your child to thrive in, whilst having an abundance of hands on and digital resources school-wide. Our large school grounds include modern classrooms, revamped playground spaces and a large oval for outdoor play. The school is currently under construction with new learning and administration buildings, covered outdoor basketball court and landscaped gardens. We have a range of shaded outdoor classroom spaces that allow us to connect with nature and deliver our daily lessons in a variety of settings.
Darrang Primary is a place where students engage in practical learning across all curriculum areas. Our well-resourced school allows us to incorporate 21st century learning into daily lessons using large interactive TVs and iPads as well as engaging with coding practices through S.T.R.E.A.M using our 1:1 devices that create a range of digital learning experiences.
A wide range of specialist classes and activities are offered including Physical Education, Art, Performing Arts and S.T.R.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Art and Maths). The school also offers a variety of lunch-time clubs and supports including Well-being sessions and a Garden club. These are student driven and change each term.
The school focuses on creating and fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment for all. We use a multi-tiered system of supports to proactively identify and support academic, social and emotional needs through tailored instruction. As a restorative practice school we support students to build positive school culture and to work through conflict. Staff proactively use a range of circles to support student learning.
We foster strong partnerships between the family and the school through continuous communication. At Darrang we highly encourage and support the home-school partnership to ensure clear, consistent communication between all stakeholders, allowing families to share in the learning journey throughout the primary school years. Darrang has an open-door policy that promotes parental involvement at all levels.
Our school promotes and instils a set of values into our daily practice to ensure our students leave as well-rounded life-long learners.
I extend a warm welcome to you and your family.
Regards,
