TRIBES

Our T.R.I.B.E.S program creates a culture of inclusion, influence and community. Students participate in fortnightly sessions that promote attentive listening, mutual respect, appreciation, the right to participate and striving to achieve their own personal best.

These sessions provide opportunities for our whole school to combine into four TRIBES: Kurnai, Wurundjeri, Boonwurrung and Taungurung. Students from Foundation to Year 6 make up each of these TRIBES. Our student leaders introduce and facilitate the activities that are held every second Wednesday afternoon. Students work through a wide range of activities that foster teamwork and collaboration across multi-age settings.

During Science and Education week, activities are themed around a topic of investigation and inquiry. Students are placed in pairs to complete the tasks with an older student working with a younger one to build rapport and support.

Classroom teachers use TRIBE points as a reward system for positive interactions and behaviours occurring. Larger school activities such as the Cross Country and Athletics also contribute to TRIBE points.

The winning TRIBE is awarded a trophy as well as an activity selected by the Junior School Council.
