MATHS OLYMPIAD This year Carrington P S participated in the Australasian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiads for the first time. 21 students from years 3 – 6 competed in 5 separate Olympiads over 5 months. Our students competed against 1203 teams involving 25019 primary students throughout Australasia. All students take part in the primary section regardless of age.
All participating students receive certificates with students in the top 25% of results receiving cloth patches, students in the top 10% receiving metal pins and the student who top scores in the school receives a trophy. There is also an Olympiads Encouragement Award given to the student who showed persistence and improvement over the Olympiads.
Carrington has done extremely well with a number of students in both the top 25% and 10% - an outstanding achievement for our first year. The awards will presented at assembly on Friday and parents are invited to celebrate the achievements of all students.
I would like to congratulate all the students for their determination with each of the Olympiads. I am so proud of their achievements and extremely excited about the number of awards we received. A full list of award winners will appear in next weeks newsletter.
