At Carrington P S, the Visual Arts program encourages the development of imagination, creativity and skills by exploring ideas and experimenting with a range of art forms and art media.

The Visual Arts program is based on the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS). Children at all levels are involved in one hour classes in the Art Room each week.

The work relates to : -

Arts practice - ideas, skills, techniques and processes

Responding to the Arts - criticism, aesthetics and contexts.

The art forms that all children engage in at Carrington are painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, threads and textiles, construction, modelling, collage, puppets and masks.

The Visual Arts prgram at Carrington is highly valued and supported. Student work is dispalyed and celebrated in a range of ways including:

  • in the foyer and corridors of the school enabling it to be shared with peers, parents and visitors
  • in individual classrooms
  • during Education Week at local shopping centres.
